Discuss whether or not technology is turning humans into zombies (both in and/or out of the bedroom)
Zombie essay
Emily Payne notes that humans “are creatures of short attention spans” who have trouble focusing in intimate settings like church, the theater, or at meals with family and friends (1). Because these activities can sometimes become “boring” (1), Payne is sympathetic to folks reaching for the smart phone during these activities. However, Beth Snyder Bulik writes that if you are under the age of 25, one out of ten folks would also answer a text during sex (1). Payne puts the number lower at one in five (1). Payne raises the question about what such behavior says about the human condition and our relationship with technology if “you can’t even concentrate on getting busy in the bedroom” (1)? Discuss whether or not technology is turning humans into zombies (both in and/or out of the bedroom)? What are the implications for humanity if/when we no longer relate to each other without technology as a facilitator?
