Choose a topic and develop a working thesis statement for the argumentative essay
The topic that I\’m choosing to work on is Ai.For the Essay you can choose to focus on the benefits or the positives and supporting it. You cannot focus on both positives and negatives in this paper. Just focus on the three positives or 3 negatives and you will be fine by finishing with the word problem-solving. In this way you will have three researchable arguments.
Argumentative Essay Topic & Thesis
It is now time for you to choose a topic and develop a working thesis statement for the argumentative essay assignment described in the course syllabus. This is the very first step in the writing process for this assignment. Choose your topic wisely as you will not be able to change it in the future.
You are encouraged to choose a topic that you interested in, feel strongly about, and have some background knowledge on. No matter the topic you decide on, you will need to make sure it is:
- Significant – Does an essay on this topic have the potential to contribute to a field of study? Will it make an impact? This does not mean every essay has to change lives, but it needs to be something relatively important. For example, a significant topic would be to convince your reader that eating at fast-food restaurants is detrimental to people’s cardiovascular system as opposed to why one fast-food restaurant is better than another.
- Singular – This means you need to focus on one topic. Using the fast-food example, if you were to focus on both the effects on the cardiovascular?and?endocrine system, the essay would lose that singular focus, and there would be too much for you to cover.
- Specific -Similar to the point above, your topic needs to be narrow enough to allow for you to really discuss the topic within the essay parameters (i.e., word count).
- Supportable – Does evidence for what you want to discuss exist from credible sources? Opinions posted on a blog does not count as credible support for your ideas.
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to help you develop critical thinking and research skills, write persuasively, and participate in the writing process. An argumentative essay requires you to use facts, data, and reasoning to substantiate a claim on a particular topic. You must state your claim in a clear thesis statement, support it with evidence, provide a counterargument to show that other views have been considered, and end with an unambiguous conclusion.

You will now write an edited and proofread final draft of the essay. Your final draft must show improvement from your first draft and demonstrate that you have incorporated feedback from your instructor and peer(s).
The essay should include and fully integrate information from three research sourcesand adhere to standard APA conventions and rules for accurate English writing mechanics, style, and formatting. You must cite the sources of all ideas, facts, and information used that are not your own, even if you have put the information into your own words. Failure to do so is plagiarism, even if the oversight is unintentional.
