Application of Vygotsky: The Zone of Proximal Development

The peer reviewed research article will need to have some relationship to the topic of the week. Point of Clarification using Vygotsky: It does not need to be a specific paper about how Vygotsky and the Principles of Learning are related – that is your job. It should, however, be an article that has a research question that reviews the Zone of Proximal Development and its impact on learning.

You will need to be creative in your key word search as some authors may use scaffolding instead of ZPD. THE ARTICLE MUST BE FROM A PEER REVIEWED ARTICLE!!! Download the article and save it as a .pdf file that can be uploaded so it can be uploaded with the assignment. It must be a .pdf document NOT a link to the library

-For each topic, you will write one two-page paper (full pages using APA) describing the following information. Each topic is outline below – you should answer all four areas listed using your article, the course materials listed, and your own words.

a. Research Article: Application of Vygotsky

i. Describe how the research article addresses the selected topic. For example, how does this paper describe Vygotsky’s work in relation to the principles of learning?

ii. Describe how the research article addresses the information located in the course materials. For the Vygotsky paper, is there any information found in the article that relates to the information presented in Brown et al.’s Chapters 1-3?

iii. What conclusions can you make about the results of the paper? iv. How can you apply this knowledge to your own teaching situation/profession? If you cannot you must state why this information cannot be applied to your area given the general directions of the assignment. As always, be concise and specific, but do not leave the reader without a clear understanding of your main points.
