The executive authority is bestowed in the president of the United States who is expected to hold office for a period of four year term, similar to his/her vice president. The president is voted in after each state appoints a number of electors that is equal to the number of representatives and senators to which the respective state is entitled in congress. However, no representative or senator, or a person holding a public office under the United States can be appointed as an elector.
