After reading the United Nations definition of “genocide” (Ostler, pg. 11), answer the following question: Did the actions and policies of Europeans and U.S. Americans toward Indians qualify as genocide or not? Why?

Note #1: Students are required to use at least one quote from the Ostler text that provides supporting evidence for their argument.
