Much attention has been placed on the negative association between trans fat intake and health/well-being. In 2006, the FDA required that trans fats be listed on food labels.  Since that time many states have gone so far as to literally ban trans fat from foods served in restaurants.  Just this month the FDA announced their plans to ban trans fats from processed foods over the next three years.

Answer the following questions in this discussion.

(1) How will banning trans fat eliminate health damage from fat intake?

(2) Can we assume that a food described on the label as trans fat free contains no trans fat?

Trans-fat is considered by doctors to be the worst type of fact that a person can eat. It is said to raise the bad cholesterol (LDL) and lower the good cholesterol (HDL) within the body. According to doctors a high LDL in combination with a low HDL increases the risk of heart diseases within the body. Thus by banning trans-fat from foods, it would mean that people will consume less trans-fat and thus reduce the risk of heart….
