The PCMH and ACOs
The 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) contains various provisions that support the implementation of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model including new payment policies (P4P) and the creation of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs).
1. What are the 5 principle goals of a PCMH and how can an organization determine if those goals are being met? If you work in an organization with the PCMH model, use specific examples of compliance.
2. How has passage of the ACA influenced the growth of Accountable Care Organizations and how did the passage of this law influence the quality of care? Research specific examples and include data, then assess the positive and negative impacts of the changes.
