The art of analyzing and evaluating our thinking

The art of analyzing and evaluating our thinking

Critical thinking can be defined as “the art of analyzing and evaluating our thinking with a view to improving it, or a problem with a view to understanding or solving it.” Critical inquiry can be understood as the means by which we practice that art. Analysis and evaluation require a particular type of questioning, such as that found in this week’s lecture resources (review the Intellectual Standards and Socratic Dialogue resources).

In a 500-700 word essay (app. 2-3 pages in correct APA format), describe your informed understanding of what critical inquiry is, and then reflect on its importance to you as a professional and as a citizen. In other words, in your work life and civic life, why is it important to ask critical questions?

This will require citing your sources and including a references section. Do not use the lectures as sources; instead, you can utilize the resources used in the lectures, as well as any other external sources you find.

Correctly format your essay according to APA guidelines. The following formatting is required:

  1. Title page
  2. 1” margins, 12-point font, typed, double-spaced
  3. Numbered pages
  4. In-text citation
  5. References section

Requirements: 500-700 word
