History of Pakistani Taliban Terrorist Group

Terrorism has been a major concern to many nations across the globe. Terrorism is an act of unbalanced minds whose motives and acts are illegal. Terrorist usually begin with acts of an individual hence; recruiting followers who later turn out to uncontrollable terror groups. The Pakistan Taliban is one of the many terrorist groups that have been the nightmare of many nations such as America among other nations. Afghan Mujahideen who were fighting against the Soviet Union started it in the early 1980’s (Giustozzi, 2009). The group is an umbrella of Afghanistan Islamists who are based in North West of Pakistan whose headquarters are Quetta. Understanding terrorist acts, abilities, and strategies are major components of fighting terror acts.

The Pakistan Taliban has been a main concern to many nations. The group is a combination of few Islamic individuals. It is hard to determine the origin of the group, however; it came into the limelight in the early 1980’s following withdraw of the Soviet troops. Terrorist acts are illegal, however; according to the group, their acts are driven by the desire to anti-Islamist. The group is a principal enemy of superpower nations such as America. Their major rebels are nations that are against Islam movements.

Terrorism in Pakistan is linked with Islam extremists who are Jihad origin. The Taliban terror group is a combination of Islam faithful.  The group is blamed for many terror acts that continue to engulf many nations.  The attack on the twin towers in America on 9/11 is one of the significant attacks, which the group has ever conducted. The group is believed to have strong ties with the Al-Qaeda who are big enemies of America (Giustozzi, 2008). The group’s initial strategies  were not to harm Pakistan. After the 9/11 attack, president Musharraf’s decision to merge with America to fight what he termed as terror acts that were carried by the group drove them to attack Pakistan in a retaliatory mission.

Terrorism and terror attacks like any other initiative need financial assistance in order to execute their goals. The Pakistan government in conjunction with the Inter-Service Intelligence is the principal financial supporters of the group’s acts. Pakistan is the number one source of financial support and is believed to aid the Taliban operations. Pakistan according to intercepted communications by the American FBI and CIA intelligence units provide diplomatic aids to followers of the Taliban group (Williams, 2013). The Pakistan government offer financial aids to machineries who train new recruits joining the group. Financing and facilitating financial support for the shipment of ammunitions among other things are the major areas in which Pakistan assist the group.

Financial support alone is not enough to execute a successful initiative. Non-financial supporters w ho are the integral aspects of logistics. The Inter-service Intelligence in Pakistan plays a significant non-financial role in the Taliban acts.  The ISI supports the group with free training and other things that are relevant to the world of terror. The ISI is believed to support the group by providing them with former military officers as well as technicians who have long experiences in the battlefield and experts in bombs. These men might not aid financial support to the group, however; they train new recruits and dispatch those they think are ready for terror acts.

The media are arguably one of the powerful tools of communication in every aspect of life across the globe. The Taliban group has significant influence on the Pakistan media as well as, across the globe. The group manipulates the media and has complex ways of seeking the attention of the media. According to the outside world media, the group has been branded names that are connected to the group’s acts. The group uses multiple means to seek attention from the media as well as, their followers. For instance, the group has managed to go global through the media without seeking their assistances. They believe that, the media is always thirst of news and therefore; they carry out staged acts, which are meant to seek the attention of the media and other authorities.

The Pakistan Armed Forces are the seventh powerful military organization in the world. It comprises the Navy, Air force, Army, and the strategic plans division. Following the American 9/11 attack, the Afghan military joined forces with China, America, and Britain in the fight against terrorism. They are the most important force multipliers affecting the strength of this group. The multiplication of these elite groups in almost every sphere of the continent has posed a significant threat to the Taliban terror group. They have not only fought the war against terror but have also, managed to stop shipment of ammunitions by the group and its allies (Denzin, 2003). They have done so by providing marine support to curb smuggling of ammunition to the Pakistan, which the terror group uses to terrorize innocent citizens.

To sum it up, the Pakistan Taliban terror group was found in early 1980’s.  The group came to the limelight in 1990’s. The ISI and the Afghan are some of the major financiers of the group. The Afghanistan provides financial support while the ISI provide ammunitions and retired military elites for training.
