Support Text Structure Awareness
This is a written assignment. You will use the template linked below to complete the assignment. The template includes four parts: 1) General Information; 2) Analyze Text Complexity; 3) Support Text Structure Awareness; 4) Responding to Reading. The resources in the Module are designed to support your development of each part of the assignment.
NOTE 1: Please keep in mind that the most important part of this assignment is you providing rationale for your choices. You are encouraged to use resources (e.g. internet resources, generative AI, teacher guides, etc.) to support your development of the plan, but you need to carefully evaluate any resources you use. You need to be able to explain and justify the decisions you have made in relation to evidence-based practices and the text itself.
NOTE 2: You may have decided to demonstrate your competence with these teaching practices using a text I provided, which may not be developmentally appropriate for your learners. If you are able to make connections directly with the learners in your classroom, then do so. If the text you are using is not developmentally appropriate for your specific learners, then use the grade level equivalency/Lexile level of the text to contextualize your assignment for learners who the text would be considered grade-level text.
