Responses are to be posted in the Group Discussion folder for the appropriate week. Entries can range from a paragraph to a full page. Entries are graded as follows: The initial response to the Module question demonstrates the student understands the content and the question. The initial response is worth up to 2 points. For the full 2 points, understanding includes integration of source material with justification for your judgments. You can justify your response to this question based on: 1) source material (For example: content in the Module readings, lecture notes, and other sources. Sources must be cited; general quotes from the Internet must be cited. Copying text from the Internet without quoting sources will be penalized and regarded as deception. 2) personal experience (direct experience you have yourself including personal faith), and/or 3) inference (reasoning). You can use any combination of these bases for judgment or any one of them, but your response must demonstrate some basis. You may receive only 1 or 0 points if you simply offer an opinion — a response with no justification. Here are some questions to guide you in forming a justified response for any module question: Why do you think the way you do? What assumptions are you making? Are you using your own reasoning or is it the reasoning of others you trust? Do you trust some authority or the media who have shaped your understanding? Is there evidence for any claims you make, such as your own observations or the observation of others?
