Social media has become a pervasive part of our lives. This week, we discussed some of the potential benefits and drawbacks of forming and maintaining relationships online. In this discussion, you will reflect upon and present your view on the pros and cons of social media for interpersonal communication.
Consider the following questions:
What are some advantages of using social media for forming and maintaining relationships?
What are some disadvantages of using social media for forming and maintaining relationships?
Has social media impacted the way you communicate with others? In what way?
Are the relationships we form online as important and meaningful as the ones we develop primarily in face-to-face interactions? Do they fulfill our need for closeness and belonging? Why or why not?
