Opinion on the concept of fact checking user information online
I am sure you recently have heard of the feud between President Trump and Twitter (If not… just Google it). This article: The Road to an Executive Order: A Twitter Drama (link: https://www.prnewsonline.com/the-road-to-an-executive-order-a-twitter-drama/?oly_enc_id=3670I2146045D1X0 provides an interesting perspective on “fact checking.”
I don’t want this to turn into a political debate. But I would like to know your opinion on the concept of “fact checking” user information online. “Fact checking” is a tactic commonly used in the media, but with this new concept of “citizen reporting” (i.e. anyone can report the news), should it be a tactic use online? Not just on social media outlets, such as Facebook and Twitter, but also with any information that is posted online by a user? Why or why not?
