Prior to beginning work on this assignment, read Chapter 9: Social Media 1 and Chapter 10: Social Media 2.

Select one of the following Facebook pages and examine it carefully:

Then, write a strategy plan that details your recommendations to management. After writing your paper, record a 2-minute recap of the strategy plan so management can get a quick overview prior to reading your more detailed plan.

Part 1: Detailed Strategy Plan Paper

  • Explain how you could improve upon their current Facebook page in each of the following areas:
    • Objective
    • Content
    • Distribution and promoting the content
    • Measuring success
  • Elaborate on how your strategy would address one of the following areas for improvement:
    • Objective-Related
      • Current Facebook posts are not aligned properly with the objective.
      • Current Facebook posts miss an opportunity to perform a secondary objective (for example, if brand building is the primary objective, a secondary objective might be to provide product information and support, and the current posts might not fulfill this objective).
      • Current Facebook posts try to perform too many objectives and need to focus more on the primary objective.
    • Content-Related
    • Percentage breakdown of various types of posts is inappropriate for the objective.
    • Other content could provide more value to fans and spur more action (present examples).
    • Distribution and Promoting of Content
    • An entire type of content is missing and should be included in some posts (because a segment of customers is being missed or because a certain type of profitable customer action could be induced with a different type of content).
    • Posts are not generating enough engagement, and the group can generate more engagement (present example posts that would accomplish this).
    • Page does not have enough fans.
  • Explain which of the following two social platforms should be the top priority for your company to have a presence, noting the type of target market for your company along with the unique characteristics of the social network you select. Support your decisions with information from Chapter 10 of your textbook.

Part 2: Quick Overview Screencast

You are about to drop off your written recommendations to management, but they would like a quick overview from you before they read through the details.

  • Summarize your recommendations in a 2-minute screencast. Below are some options you can use for the visual component of your screencast:
    • PowerPoint slides
    • Video recording of your face
    • One-page summary of important results from your research

The paper for the Social Media Strategy Plan assignment

  • Must be five to seven pages in length
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of project in bold font
      • Space should appear between the title and the rest of the information on the title page.
    • Student’s name
    • Name of institution (The University of Arizona Global Campus)
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Due date

The screencast for the Social Media Strategy Plan assignment

  • Must be recorded and submitted as a hyperlink within the Detailed Strategy Plan paper.
  • Must be 2 minutes in length.
  • Must be clear and audible.
