Leslie Marmon Silko is a Native American novelist and poet born on March 5, 1948, in Albuquerque, New Mexico United States. Silko is of mixed Laguna Pueblo as she has both Mexican and white ancestry. Silko grew up on New Mexico’s Laguna Pueblo reservation where she learned the myths and traditions of Laguna. She attended the Bureau of Indian Affairs schools and went on to graduate with BA honors from the University of New Mexico in 1969…………………………….
