Should we keep the “Plural Executive”?
In Texas, almost all of the members of the state government\’s executive branch are elected by the public (Governor, Lt, Governor, Agriculture Commissioner, Attorney General, and Comptroller). They are not appointed by the governor–although they usually share the governor\’s political party. We call this system the “Plural Executive.”
What is a benefit of this system and what is a weakness of this system? Should we change the system and have those members be appointed? By whom? Be specific in your answers.
