Week 3 discussion “Federalism” was a great topic for me. We discussed that Federalism is a shared relationship between the central, state or regional government. We delved into the fact that federalism is necessary because it sets policies in place suited for the people within each states and the states retain absolute power and preserve the concept of the Constitution. In other discussion for week three we talked about if the states should be allowed to make the decision to accept or refuse immigrants. I believed everyone voice their opinions on each topic is a very informed manner which made week three very easy going for all of us. I honestly don’t believe we have touched a topic that was not challenging and proactive. Personally I have tried to be apart of many discussions as possible because all of the topics are this tings that wavers my mind but I have never really expressed them. When we stated this class I was bit worried and afraid to say many things because people tend to get very angry and upset when you speak your mind on things that they may not agree we. Politics was never one of my topic of discussion, but Professor Waldon you did challenged me to voice my opinion and speak my mind on many thing. You’ve even had us research things that I have thought off, but never followed through to investigate for myself, like the way the media is perceived and received in other parts of the world. I thank you for pushing me to do more, to express how I feel and what I would like to see happen in our country. I really enjoyed this class.

Our week three discussion on federalism really opened my thinking on this topic which in most cases is not put to its proper context. I was able to appreciate the fact that federalism is a mixed from of government which entails sharing of responsibility between the central government and the regional government. As we delved deeper into the topic, I was able to realise that federalism is vital because its enable those in power at the regional level to set and implement policies that are suitable to the people living in their locality. I was also greatly intrigued by another discussion that we had in week three on whether the federal governments should be given the mandate to accept or refuse immigrants. This being a very controversial issue I was glad that everyone was able to voice their opinions without judgement…………………………
