Frankenstein is commonly thought of alternatively as an early science fiction novel and a model of Gothic Fiction. Review the National Library of Medicine’s website: Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature. Evaluate the cultural fear that underlies much of the book. Compare and contrast the cultural response of Frankenstein with that of Darwin’s work on evolution. How does this help explain Darwin’s hesitancy in publishing his own work? Lastly, think of how scientists are portrayed in popular culture today. Is it much different than the way Dr. Frankenstein (a fictional character) and Darwin (a biologist) were portrayed? Please give specific examples to support your point of view.

Studies indicate the rejection of God as the human life creator by both Dr. Frankenstein and Darwin as the main theme in both scientific works. Their nature understanding is similar, although the manner that each individual recounts to society between the two works is totally different. Both works indicate related perceptions on nature, regarding it as a scientific exploration tool and as the prevailing beauty that is regularly seen today………………
