In this assignment, you will define leadership and explain the unique qualities of a school counselor’s role in student assistance programs, leadership positions, curriculum development, and advisory committees. You will examine your own level of knowledge in specific student needs, and develop an action plan to increase your knowledge.

Instructions

Define leadership and discuss potential leadership contributions the school counselor might make within a school setting, explaining the unique qualities that the counselor in student assistance programs, leadership, curriculum development, and advisory meetings. Evaluate your own knowledge and awareness of how the follow affect student learning and development:

Atypical growth and development.

Health and wellness.

Language.

Ability level.

Multicultural issues.

Resilience.

Create an action plan to increase your personal knowledge of these areas. Research this subject in the literature of the field. Cite resources from your research to support your statements. Outline the unique qualities of a school counselor’s role within student assistance programs, curriculum, and advisory meetings. Clearly demonstrate a thorough understanding of student assistance programs, the importance of being involved in curriculum meetings, and the value of participating in advisory committees. Your paper should be 2–3 pages in length.

Your assignment should include a title page, conform to APA sixth edition style and formatting, and include a minimum of three resources in the reference list, not including the textbooks or articles that are required readings for this course.
