Richmond’s prominence began in 1780 when it became the capital of Virginia. Previously, the state capital was Williamsburg. However, the city was burned in 1981 by British soldiers under the command of Benedict Arnold. It went on to recover with a significant assistance from slave labor, and played a significant role in the American Revolutionary war. The above-mentioned aspects indicate that the city has a rich history, thus plays different roles to its various residents………………………
