The Real Reason White People Say All Lives Matter

The Rhetorical Analysis

After reading “The Real Reason White People Say ‘All Lives Matter,’” by Josh Halstead, and “Enough Already with ‘All Lives Matter,’” by Jeffrey Kluger, we are exposed to the rhetoric of the All Lives Matter movement, a direct response to BLM. These articles function in specific ways due to many rhetorical features employed by the authors. For this essay, you will choose one of the articles and perform a rhetorical analysis on it. Again, this essay needs to be thesis driven, so it should have a focused argument while simultaneously identifying rhetorical features and their advantages/disadvantages. This essay should focus on how the author employs rhetorical features such as ethos, pathos, logos, images, textual layout, etc. There are an abundance of rhetorical features to choose from in each reading, so do not expect to be able to cover them all. However, you should focus on 1-4 features depending on what your goal is in regard to your thesis.
