In the poem, “Ballard of the Landlord,” racism is apparent. It was composed in the 1940s when racism had taken its due course. The whites said were superior to the blacks and there was no debate about it. The black tenant, the primary voice of the poem, gripes to the landlord about the spilling rooftop and the broken strides at his rental house should have been repaired. The house is in life-undermining conditions and should have been repaired immediately. The tenant has been sitting tight for the landlord to get the rooftop fixed a week back. The author describe the black man as a basic yet poor and low taught tenant who chronically utilizes the substandard dialect, for example, slang, the abbreviate words and linguistically off base English.
