The goal of all artists was to charm, delight and entertain during this era
A rising middle class was influential in the expansion of music in this time period.
In society, they were literate and independent.
With their ability to support the new market for writers, artists, and musicians public concerts increased.Composers were now free to reflect the feelings of the general public.
“Music was supposed to meet the listener at his level, and not make him have to make an effort to understand it. For this reason, composers valued simplicity over complexity, and tried to please without using excessive emotion”.
Vienna, Austria was the center for Opera in the German-speaking world, which attracted pianist-composers such as Mozart.
His keen insights into human nature were added to his operatic compositions.
Mozart transformed every genre in which he composed, with”his luminous beauty of sound”
