Schizophrenia is one of the most serious mental diagnoses. There is stigma and misconception about schizophrenia, the symptoms and presentation of this illness, and the effect on a person and their family’s life. As a counselor it is important for you to understand this mental illness and its complexity for proper treatment.
Watch “Schizophrenias” from the University Library. This video clarifies some of the beliefs and myths about people who are diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:
What symptoms of schizophrenia did you observe in each of the clients in the video? How do these symptoms affect a person’s ability to function in daily life? What is the effect of stigma on the clients?
