The goal of psychoanalysis is to uncover the unconscious mind

Examine the paragraph below and provide your opinion – is this synthesis? Why or why?.

The goal of psychoanalysis is to uncover the unconscious mind: specifically thoughts and dreams which have been repressed (Hebbrecht, 2013; Kluners, 2014; Johansson, 2007; Perera, 2013; Summers, 2006). Freud theorized maladaptive adult behaviors are products of repressed unconscious desires during psychosexual development, or rather problems during one or more stages of psychosexual development, which prevent a person from reaching true self-actualization (Hebbrecht, 2013; Kluners, 2014; Johansson, 2007; Perera, 2013; Summers, 2006). Identification of unconscious thoughts and desires is paramount to successful treatment; the process of free-association, led by a psychoanalyst, allows the patient to uncover the unconscious mind (Hebbrecht, 2013; Kluners, 2014; Johansson, 2007; Perera, 2013; Summers, 2006).
