For this assignment, you need to do a web search and look up information on one species of non- human primate. You will also need to use information from your textbook. First, choose a primate species to research (so choose a single species, not a generalized group —for example, if you do a lemur, choose one particular species of lemur, not lemurs generally).You can find primate species names to looking up websites on primates and choosing one, or looking at A Gallery of Primates link and choose one, or however you like.
Use Google, Yahoo, or whatever is your favorite search engine, and find information on the primate you chose. Then, answer the following questions on your primate. This will incorporate both information from the website(s) you use as well as information from ch. 6, including the traditional classification chart in Reflect in ch. 6 and Figure 6.1 in the text.

1. Which primate species did you choose (common [English] name)? What is its scientific (Latin, binomial) genus and species name?
2. Is this a prosimian, New World monkey, Old World monkey, or ape? (for this, you’ll have to read ch. 5 and learn what those categories mean).
3. What kind of environment/habitat (e.g., rainforest, desert, or whatever) does your primate live in and in what part of the world?
a. Describe what the animal looks like – size, coloring, etc.
b. Do the males and females differ from each other (sexual dimorphism?)
4. What kinds of foods does it eat?
a. Describe the social group (if any) that they live in – size and composition of the group (males, females, and juveniles), etc, or are they solitary?
5. DESCRIBE some other distinctive information that you learned about the behaviorsprimate: tool use, social interactions, territory, or whatever – provide detail.
