Important: You are reporting on a topic as aligned to your own interests but are reporting on it from the research and literature perspective (No I statements). Why is the topic important? What are your findings? Thus, be careful not to insert your own opinion. This can be tricky so please contact me (the instructor) if you are unclear. Also, be careful to restate names and authors, etc. and refrain from the use of “they” or “the authors,” as you need to be very clear and definitive on who you are referring to, what program, what author, etc.

Minimal Standards for Writing
As a developing [educational] leader you will have to document, prepare reports, write letters and recommendations, respond appropriately in e-mails, etc. Professional writing is paramount. Please refrain from social media language such as ‘u r’ and ‘4 u’ in your writing–and proofread for spelling or omission errors. Points are deducted for not maintaining these standards. For those assignments requiring paragraphs, please adhere to the minimal standards detailed in the directions—typically five+ sentences per paragraph and adequate supporting details. Pay close attention to words often misspelled or misused such as principle/principal, to/too/too, your/you’re, moral/morale, there/they’re, their, than/then, capital/capitol, affect/effect, etc. (not ect.), i.e. vs. e.g., among others.
