Rove Doctrine is the integration of electoral politics and policy decisions that are examined. It was a powerful practiced doctrine under the Bush administration. “Elected officials at all levels of government have attempted to influence public administrators to make them perform their duties in a manner that will be beneficial to their needs” (Shafaritz & Borick, 2011, p. 82). In my opinion, the Rove Doctrine is not any different from what other presidential administrations have done to achieve political advantage. Elected officials seek to appeal to the public by focusing on their interest while it is beneficial to them. They work hard to make sure they get what they want. The United States has a history of manipulative officials. I do not thing anything will ever change. However, I do believe some of them are better than others. They care and really try to help make a difference for the American people. It is crucial to have policies in place that will do some real good for all Americans in our country. Not policies that are important because it help them gain and keep the political advantage. We need to be careful when it comes to choosing officials. These officials build their own teams to accomplish their own goals as they see fit. This is why it is imperative for us to practice our civil duty by voting. It matters and makes a difference. As my mom use to say it only takes one bad apple. “Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4, New International Version).

There are large ideological differences within the two major parties over protecting the environment. Environmental policies should be less political and more environmentally educational. According to the Pew Research Center, “the majority of Americans say the federal government is doing too little to protect key aspects of the environment including water and air quality. And two-thirds of Americans say the government is doing too little to reduce the effects of climate change”. When political affiliation are involved misinformation is disseminated. The issue of climate change highlights the deep partisan divides in views of many public priorities. For most conservatives the idea of global warming does not exist and for most liberals global warming is a major concern. “In 2006 climatologist James Hansen went public with claims that Bush administration officials were attempting to censor his agency’s findings on global warming” (Shafritz & Borick, pg. 84). The administration tried to silence him because his argument was counterintuitive to their belief. The debate around climate change is no longer about science. This is a prime example why politics should not be involved in environmental policies. The environment is too important to be left in the hands of divisive, and selfish individuals that are only looking out for what serves them. Democrats and Republicans have long been far apart in their views of the importance of climate change. American citizens continues to express widespread support, for protecting the environment.
