Policy Analysis Project: Part 4 – Project the Outcomes and Confront the Trade-Offs Assignment Instructions
Overview
Your Policy Analysis Project will be completed in six parts throughout this course. It is intended to allow you to apply your analytical skills in assessing and evaluating education policies for effectiveness. You will select a contemporary educational policy issue and conduct an analysis in incremental parts. Each part will build upon the others.
For this fourth part of the Policy Analysis Project series of assignments, you will predict the possible outcomes of the alternatives you chose when completing the previous four steps of the Eightfold Path. You will also determine what you, as the policy analyst, are willing to give up or compromise to arrive at the best possible outcome.
Instructions
Using the same Policy Analysis Project Template file used for the previous assignments (incorporating any needed changes identified in your instructor’s feedback), continue completing the Appendix A (Project the Outcomes Matrix) template section as specified below. You will also complete the Policy Options and Advantages and Disadvantages of Each Policy Option sections. You will also add any sources used for these sections in the Sources Consulted or Recommended section.
1.Review Steps 5 and 6 in the Eightfold Path manual on outcomes and confronting the alternatives.
2.In the Appendix A (Project the Outcomes Matrix) section of the template:
a.Provide a projected outcome for each alternative based on the given criterion and data analyzed.
b.For each projected Outcome, provide a basic Cost Analysis (i.e., associated costs) for each alternative to implement either a gain (+) or loss (-) for the institution and increment (i.e., /month, /semester, annually) ), and brief detail as to how the amount was determined.
c.Based on your cost analysis, provide an incremented Overall Value for each alternative (solution). Once completed, your matrix table (not including the criteria and alternative explanations underneath the table) should contain at least 750 words.
3.In the Policy Options section of the template, give a brief description of this section. Place each of your alternatives’ labels as the subheadings and add five advantages and five disadvantages of each alternative. At least 2 – 3 sentences are required for each advantage and disadvantage.
4.Sources Consulted or Recommended: This section is essentially an annotated bibliography if the decision maker has the interest and time to read up on a specific source. Add the sources and annotations that you used for the parts you completed in this assignment to this template section. (Note: The final written report for this project requires at least three sources, which must be scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles published within the last five years.) For each source, list the reference entry according to current APA formatting and provide a 2-3-sentence description and evaluation.
Complete each section of the template using single-line spacing. All other formatting, including, but not limited to, source in-text citations and references, must follow current APA formatting guidelines.
Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
