Essay Prompt:

Pick two poems we read (by different authors) that are related thematically and compare and contrast them.. You should show how each poem develops the theme in a unique manner. You should aim to capture as much as possible the specificity and complexity of each poem’s treatment of the theme. You do not need to provide a comprehensive analysis that discusses every element of both poems. You can offer an overall frame for understanding the poem before zooming in and focusing on those details and lines that seem most relevant.
