I discovered my interest in healthcare by observing what it is like when access is restricted. Being raised in Lane, South Carolina, a small rural community where people knew each other but could not always afford to receive care in time, I saw how preventable diseases turned into a lifetime burden just because the system was not designed to accommodate people like us. Family members waited until it was an emergency to seek treatment, and neighbors had to drive long distances and wait long hours just to see a provider. Those experiences shaped my belief that healthcare should not be a privilege based on geography or circumstance but a promise of care, dignity, and equity. That belief makes me interested in healthcare and is the core of my mission: to lead with purpose, compassion, and integrity and create systems that serve every community.
