An organization\’s mission, vision, values, and strategies have always been the lifeblood of business. With a strong mission statement companies can clearly communicate why they exist. With a clear vision companies gain an ability to state what the company is attempting to achieve through their mission. With good values, candidates and employees of the company can be sure that they are part of a group that holds to a set standard of integrity that they know won\’t be compromised under any circumstances. Finally, clear strategies lay out how the company will go about achieving its vision and goals, giving the employees/candidates an opportunity to find out why their jobs are so important.
When I worked for Disney they do a great job of getting you excited for the career you are about to embark on. They break down your perks, and benefits as you advance through the ranks, and what can be in store for you if you stay on with them.
Disney has always held to its values as they have advanced throughout the years into the world\’s largest entertainment company. It\’s really amazing that they have been able to do so with the amount of change they go through almost on a yearly basis, with new acquisitions, that make adjustments mandatory.

I agree with the statement on the website: \”Without necessarily studying individual cultures and languages in detail, we must all learn how to better communicate with individuals and groups whose first language, or the language of choice, does not match our own.\” I think the key is to remember a few things. When speaking to someone we work with or making friends with and they are from a different culture and have an accent, it does not mean they are not intelligent or knowledgable about the subject they are articulating. It just means that they are most probably thinking in their native language and translating it to English, and for that reason, the sentence is not grammatically correct. However, the idea or the knowledge they are sharing is on point. If anything, people with different cultures bring diversity and out-of-the-box concepts. Naturally, we all have our ways of doing things in our diverse cultures, and I think in the end, the key is to respect and treat everyone how you would like to be treated. In some cases, it is not the culture to blame – it is just the human being human and not a nice one. I moved here at the age of 14, and English is my second language. I was a straight-A student back at home, and the only way I was able to get As and Bs here was what I knew and studied back home. Granted, I had a few dictionaries in my hand no matter when you saw me, as I had to look up words; back then, we did not have smart cell phones with google searches and voice translations apps. A soon as I would start speaking, right away, the question was, \”Oh, where is your accent from?\” I initially took it negatively.
It was maybe more of my insecurity, working hard to pronounce the words correctly, but then I realized that even native English people ask one another. Someone from NY or Texas has an accent too. I think we are blessed to live where we are living. Being surrounded by such diverse cultures, we develop that much more. We learn things about people, allowing us to work with them, be friends with them, and accept them as who they are. We are that much more reacher and knowledgeable as long as we welcome it and learn from it.
