Overview
For this Performance Task, you will create a professional letter of recommendation for a colleague who displays elements of Nursing’s Social Policy Statement as well as elements of the Campaign for Action. You will also prepare a submission for a career advancement opportunity that highlights your social change efforts and aspirations.
Your response to this Performance Task should reflect the criteria provided in the Rubric and adhere to the required length.

Save the letter of recommendation as IN3005_letter_firstinitial_lastname (for example, IN3005_letter_J_Smith).
Save the social change responses as IN3005_social_firstinitial_lastname (for example, IN3005_social_J_Smith).

Part 1: Professional Letter of Recommendation
Identify a nursing colleague or present-day nurse leader who exhibits healthcare-related change advocacy. Create a 1- to 2-page professional letter of recommendation for this person. Your letter should include the following elements:
Select one statement from Nursing’s Social Policy Statement that this person exhibits in their practice and explain how their actions benefit patients, the facility, and/or the nursing field. See the Module 1 resources for a link to the content.
Explain how this person puts into action at least one of the areas recommended by the Campaign for Action. See the Module 1 resources for a link to the content.
Describe this person’s advocacy efforts and the positive changes that have resulted from their efforts.

Part 2: Application for Advancement
Imagine that there is an advancement opportunity at your facility. You and many of your fellow nurses are interested in it. There is so much interest, in fact, that the administration needs help to narrow down the candidates. They have decided to ask each candidate to respond to a series of prompts about advocacy and social change which will help inform the decision.
You have options for delivering your responses to the administration, and you want to ensure that your application stands out to the decision-makers. You may choose to use PowerPoint or Word to display your responses, or you can utilize a web-based application like Adobe Spark or Padlet (see below). You are not limited to these apps, but you must make sure that your exported files are accessible for your Faculty SME and that your presentation is professional and creative.
Address the following in your response:
Describe one health-related positive social change area or topic that is most important to you and how you are working to positively impact this area or topic.
Read the study Six Distinct Types of Social Change Agents. Explain how the current social change agent types reflect your current social change efforts. Explain how the current social change agent types might reflect your future social change goals.
Defend the following statement: Advocating for social change is the responsibility of the nursing professional.
