TedTalk
Definitional argument defining a concept or issue that is being discussed using a Ted Talk video
Using a TED Talk on an issue, you will write a 3- to 5-page definitional argument defining a concept or issue that is being discussed. As you define this term or concept, determine how the work maintains, changes, or undermines the term/ concept that the speaker and a community accepts as true. You must establish whether you agree or disagree with the created definition of the term/ concept of the speaker, in which case you must provide your own definition and then argue its validity. In other words I am asking you to write a paper in which you consider a concept like murder or torture and examine how they are used in a film like The Purge, Saw, Hunger Games series. Based on the film, what then is murder? What are the implications of subscribing to the definition in this way? What is missed by those discussing the death of children as it relates to murder? Who is excluded or included in this idea of murderer? Why? What influences the perspectives of those who (do not) murder? https://www.ted.com/talks/karen_tse_how_to_stop_torture
