Modern Period We are only concerned with 1600 – the present time in this course
In these periods, the arts were intertwined with political, social and economic events. According to the text, “The creative accomplishments of an age tend to reflect a shared perspective.”
For your paper, choose an artist(s) or creative individual(s) from one of these time periods, and make a case for how that person’s works were influenced by the times in which he/she lived. For example, Dante’s Divine Comedy epitomized the ideals of the High Middle Ages. Another example is how the creators of the Gothic cathedrals were in part proclaiming the new economic well being of the times.
1. Your paper should be 4-7 pages.
2. Double spaced.
3. Times New Roman Font, 12 point.
4. Papers must include MLA formatted citationsRacism discrimination that only based on skin color, race, or other racial reasons should be abolish (direct quotes) from the text.
5. Other sources may be included.
1. Make sure your citations do not overwhelm your paper: I want to hear YOUR ideas, not just those of experts and historians.
2. Your quotes, in other words, should support your thesis (main point that you’re arguing).
