The Case Study I chose was Danielle’s client George. In this case study let me first say that this situation seems very scary and I bet that counselors deal with these types of issues a lot. The first thing Danielle needs to do is acknowledge that George’s statement must be seriously examined. Danielle needs to consider the duty to warn others. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, in Arkansas, there is no duty to warn or protect (2023). Let me also state that in Arkansas confidentiality is enforced. The National Conference of State Legislatures has stated that Confidential relations and communications between licensed counselors and licensed associate counselor and their clients are placed on the same basis as those provided by law between attorneys and clients (2023). Some complications to this would be breaking that confidentiality agreement. George has gone to you for help and guidance, so if that trust is broken, then George would not feel comfortable anymore. Another complication that I can see is if Danielle does not take what George says seriously.
