Individuals suffering from a stroke can have physical and mental disorders. Stroke survivors who achieve a higher level of posttraumatic growth were found to have social support from family and deliberate reflection (Peng & Wan, 2018).
Reflection on why one has a stroke and it’s effect on one’s life going forward leads to posttraumatic growth. Social support provides the opportunity to express spiritual pain, self-disclosure, and positive thinking. Those with a lower level of education should be identified and given more support to achieve posttraumatic growth following a stroke (Peng & Wan, 2018).
