M3 Discussion: Partisan Loyalties
For this assignment, please read and reference Ch. 5-8 of the following class textbook:
· Cobbs, Elizabeth & Blum, Edward. Major Problems in American History. 4th ed. Vol. II. Boston, Massachusetts: Wadsworth Cengage Learning, 2017.
Becker, Ann. Lecture. “The Progressive Movement”
Becker, Ann. Lecture. “World War I “
Becker, Ann. Lecture. “The Twenties”
Becker, Ann. Lecture. “The Great Depression”
Becker, Ann. Lecture. “World War II”
As you go through the readings and Dr. Becker’s lecture notes attached, keep in mind the themes of this module center on social and political responses to periods of tumultuous change: Industrialization, women’s suffrage, and increased uses of executive power amid the Great Depression and World War II. These responses reshaped partisan loyalties that continue to impact how we view national politics in the 21st century. For this discussion, let’s look at those partisan loyalties, and how they took shape during the Great Depression. Please create posts that engage with other students in:

Who all was proposing solutions?
Which solutions gained traction among voters and why?

Analyzing what sectors of the U.S. citizenry were excluded from debates on New Deal policies and the benefits of these programs, and why.
