Literature Review Assignment:
A literature review is a text of a scholarly academic articles, which includes the existing knowledge involving central findings, as well as theoretical and methodological contributions to a particular topic of interest.
The goal of a literature review is to present current information, data, facts, and existing knowledge regarding your topic area. Here you’ll want to present the literature review in such a way as it lays out the structure of your project; starting with background readings, current problems/state of affairs, facts, figures, and other important data, possible solutions, and what is next.
A literature is much different than a book report in that you present readings as well as your interpretations of the readings. What are some of the key take aways from the article? What message is the author/researcher trying to convey? Why is this piece important to your study? How does this literature help you to create a useful narrative for your project?
Please note that you will be citing throughout the literature review and what is in your literature review should be included in your reference page as well. Students should look to read 2-3 journal articles.
For each article you should include the following:
Brief summary of article
Any data/statistics reported by author/researcher
Key findings
The importance of the article to your project/topic
Research/journal articles should be no more than 5 years old, with a few rare exceptions.
When reading peer-reviewed journal articles for this assignment, the areas of focus should be on the abstract, introduction, literature review (if included), and discussion/conclusion.
