How to tell if someone is listening

There are several steps that one can use to tell if the other person or the audience is really paying any attention. Below is a list of steps that one can use; paying attention the other person’s body language, noticing if the person is using interjections, listening to see if the person is paraphrasing, trying to get response from the person and lastly one can use something silly or absurd (Downs, L. J.,2008, pg. 29) .
