From a social point of view, the Lenape people were organized into three different groups. The groups were: Unami people that live in Down-river, the Minsi people of the stone nation and Unalachtigo individuals that live by the sea. Each of these groups were organized into 12 clans, with each one of the, being represented by a chief in the Lenape council.
