Provide an example of an aspect of learning at school that you would like to improve
Cognitive and learning strategies are procedures that students can use to learn more efficiently and effectively. People naturally adopt these strategies as a way of life like reading movie reviews to decide which movies to see rather than seeing every movie, or learning to grab a knife by the handle not the blade. However, by being more deliberate, many people find they can learn much more effectively. Dale Carnegie teaches how to associate every person’s name using cognitive and learning strategies as follows: 1)listen carefully; 2) ask them to repeat it; 3) observe their facial characteristics; 4) repeat their name during the introduction (pleased to meet you Carl); and 5) use the strangers name repeatedly in your conversation with them. Finally, Dale Carnegie recommends to create mental associations with the person’s name with something you will recall. Maybe Mr. Steinway smiles and is missing every other tooth and you think of a piano with their name (The Steinway Piano).
