To prepare:
• Review the Learning Resources on healthcare and disability.
• Select a specific disability to research that exists within the adult population. You may think of, for example, a learning or mobility disability, low vision or blindness, deafness, or a developmental disability such as Down syndrome.
• Conduct a literature search on the health outcomes experienced by patients with this disability and best practices for improving them.
ASSIGNMENT
Submit a 2-page paper in which you:
• Describe a specific disability impacting the adult population. What is the etiology (“origin”) of the disability?
• Identify and analyze health disparities that are typically experienced by individuals with the disability you selected.
• Explain why these disparities exist and how medical social workers may be able to mitigate them.
Use the Learning Resources and at least two additional pieces of literature to support your Assignment. Make sure to provide APA citations and a reference list.
