Learning from The Past
Each of you has had numerous experiences as an adult learner in the past. You may remember these experiences as positive or negative. Through reflection, much can be learned from past experiences, both good and bad. This week’s Learning Resources stress the importance of adults reflecting on their experiences and questioning their prior assumptions. With this in mind, think back on your past experiences as an adult learner in any setting, formal or informal, and formulate an example of the following:
- An adult educator who you think did a great job or who inspired you
- An adult educator who you think did a poor job or who really disappointed you

An adult educator who inspired me
A good example of an inspiring educator occurred when I was attending a class on communication skills. During that lesson, all adult learners were attentive and eager waiting for the lesson to start. As suggested by Carline (2011), the adult instructor had carried a file with him that contained the lesson plan and scheme of work which he used during the lesson.
