To me this mean there is so much you can learn out in the world today. You can never know enough about anything. So when the reference learning is like a chase, yes it is due to you will always be chasing more information and trying to learn more each day. There is the saying people will say “I learned something new today”.
You fear to lose what you have already gained. Well this could be true for most people in society today. I will use math for an example. Some math can be a perishable skill meaning if you master it this week and move on to learn something new and then from there to something new again you’re skill you mastered might be lost if you have not conducted refreshers on it. At least that was always my problem sure simple math sticks with all of us but who can say geometry or calculus is something we could just sit down and do right now even though a year ago we received a letter grade of A in the course.
So yes learning can be a chase the quest for more information and on that quest gaining. your new knowledge and information you run the risk of losing what you have already learned when you gain something new.
