The theories of transformational and authentic leadership
In the Northouse chapters for this unit, you are introduced to the theories of Transformational and Authentic Leadership. The Kouzes and Posner chapter complements these theories by introducing you to the last of the five exemplary leadership practices, which is “enable others to act” with the desired outcome to foster collaboration. While examples from your text provide good foundational knowledge, learning from a leader, you are familiar with, will show you how these concepts can be applied in situations you can relate to more closely. Provide an overview of the concepts and practices in your readings and identify the relationship between them. Identify and describe a real world leader who has been successful in creating organizational growth and change using the concepts and practices you have studied in the unit readings. This leader can be one from a current job or previous job, a volunteer group, or other professional activity in which you are engaged. Assess why you selected this person and describe the leadership accomplishment that has supported your selection choice. Conduct an interview with this leader in order to assess their leadership qualities using the questions below:
a. What has been your leadership training and educational background?
b. How did you learn to be a leader?
c. What were the circumstances that caused you to be in a position to demonstrate leadership?
d. How did you engage others based on your leadership effort?
e. Did you encounter obstacles? How did you overcome them?
f. If you look back at this experience, what actions did you find particularly successful?
g. If you look back at this experience, what one thing might you have done differently to improve the results of your work? Describe how you are going to implement the results of your interview and other insights by creating a plan of becoming a more effective leader
