I feel that folks often take being a leader for granted. Having been in a leadership role for more than 20 years at a healthcare organization, I can share with you that it is the ability to impact people’s lives. The team that you supervise as well as the patients whose care that you oversee. I believe that great leaders produce great teams and have the best outcomes. Learning about team dynamics is also important and meeting the team where they are.
Also, I think a good leader should know when to be humble and take a step back when they do not have the answer but realize that someone else on their team may be better suited to take the lead during certain initiatives. These are solely my takeaways on leadership, and I wish you the best on this journey. By the way, I love that statement about why leave a landfill when you can leave a legacy? (Clark, 2009).
