This week we will tackle an introduction to risk. Read the Fischoff and Hillson articles in their entirety. Focus on what risks means to you. The writing assignment is a no more than 500 word essay on “Is commuting to work worth the risk?”. There should be an opening paragraph where you define the specific problem statement you are addressing i.e. “Yes, driving is worth the risk, but public transportation is not” or “No, working from from home is much less risky than commuting”, one or two supportive facts/logical examples, at least one shortcoming of your problem statement and a summary paragraph. As this is the first assignment, use the attached example to begin your thinking.
