Angels and Demons in the Renaissance

St Michael Vanquishing Satan: I would like to focus on the painting of St Michael Vanquishing Satan, and how and why the paintings of angels and demons deemed to be a popular topic during this time

one point to consider is that the influence of  humanism is seen here – both angels and demons are “humanized” by artists who portray them in the arts including literature – they become more complex characters . . .

Requirements: be sure to include title, artist and date. Identify work as southern or northern renaissance and explain how it either typifies or defies the conventions of the renaissance. For those of you who choose a topic that is not necessarily a particular work, consider defining/explaining the topic (ex: golden ratio) and then describing a few examples of how it occurs in renaissance art.
