All clinical relationships always have a beginning and an end. The field of social work involves engaging clients in services and assisting them to obtain stability as they recover from their illnesses. It is, however, difficult to engage clients in a termination process as they may view discussion leading to the termination negatively. Even the chronically ill patients or patients with development disabilities still experience staff turnover calling for termination issues (Acosta, 2015).  The termination process does not begin at the time when the caregiver is about to stop his/her services to the patient but starts right away at the time of their first meeting.
